As a Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project (PAWLP) fellow and past intern at Nancie Atwell’s demonstration school, the Center for Teaching and Learning, I am passionate about working with and teaching teachers. Through national, state, and local conferences,I share best practices and my research interests. I am particularly interested in student choice, the writing-reading workshop, independent reading books as mentor texts, student empowerment, and digitizing the writing-reading workshop.

This 2019-2020 school year, I mentored a first-year teacher. In addition to supporting her teaching philosophy which already included mini-lessons, one-on-one reading and writing conferences, and choice, we developed a year-long outline that aligned our school district’s curriculum to her pedagogical beliefs.
